USD #366 is EXCITED to share the latest development from the State Department of Education!! Temporary Emergency Authorized License (TEAL) has been created to help with the shortage of Substitute Teachers across the state.
The basic qualifications are:
1. High School Diploma
2. At least 18 years old
3. District Approval
4. Pass a fingerprint and background check ($50 fee) through KSDE.
The main factor of this is that districts "sponsor" those individuals that they believe will make good substitutes in their district. If you believe this is you, check out the process outlined below. Beginning January 14th, the application will be available at the Board Office, for you to fill out. Stop by, pick up your application & fill it out and then return it to us. We’ll fill out our portion of the application and, if approved by the district, we will forward it to the state department. You will also need to go to the Wo. Co. Sherriff’s Dept. for fingerprinting & a background check ($50 Fee). If you are requesting multiple districts, each district will need to fill out the district portion of the application. After the background check has been completed, you will receive a license that allows you to substitute in our district. These licenses will be district specific. The license will be valid until June 1, 2022. This application is not available to fill out online. You will need to come to the board office during business hours for a hard copy of this application. Substitute teacher pay for this position is $85 per day. Turn-around time for the background check is approximately 5-6 days.
