For Earth Day one of the students' choices was to learn about the decomposition of things. Colton Burkholder made his own composting jar to see the process happen first hand!

While I can't show you the video, I took a screenshot of it. Cooper O'Brien created his own colony during colonial times. He explained the exact location of where he would create it and talked about the natural resources that it had to offer. The warm climate and rich soil will allow him to grow crops for his colony.

Cayten Cummings & Mason Collins decided to double recipes and look at fractions while making delicious desserts during their non-digital activity.

It may be raining, but we are here. Pull up close and we will bring them out

Thank you to Patty Ann Sanborn of State Farm for the goodies for the kids yesterday. It was a good surprise for the kids.

Happy National Library Week. Our libraries and librarians are missing our students. Here is a fun activity for everyone to guess the books represented. Post your answers and have fun.

Congratulations to Brantley Dixon, Gauge Murray, and Brantley Olson for moving above grade level in Lexia Reading!

Throughout the week students sent me questions about themselves. I created a quiz with all of their questions. Today we tested our knowledge of how well we knew each other. Congrats to Jaylyn for first place!

Prom was to be tonight. Let’s show our support for these disappointed students! Help spread the word but please practice social distancing by staying in your cars!

Just so everyone knows that was Kristen Cagle. She saw her coming and said I’m going to meet her half way. ❤️ Kristen is awesome!

We have meals ready! Pull up and we will bring them to you. We will be trying to stay warm.

Madelynn Collins Selected to Participate in a 2020 Senior Leaders Conversation
Congratulations to Madelynn Collins, who was selected to participate in a 2020 Senior Leaders Conversation. Due to the school closings across the state, the education department (KSDE) wanted students to share their stories about their after high school plans. The purpose of these casual conversations is to allow our Senior Leaders to share their unique stories with KSDE staff and their fellow seniors across the state of Kansas. KSDE selected 60 Kansas seniors to share their stories and Madelynn was selected.
As a district we are proud of the accomplishments of not only Madelynn, but the all the members of the Senior Class of 2020! They will forever have one of the most unique stories in regards to there senior year.

The Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force is honored to recognize the 2020 Kansas Governor’s Scholars. These seniors are recognized as being in the academic top 1% of their graduating class. Representing YCHS is Elisabeth Benteman!

ATTENTION SENIOR PARENTS!
