On Tuesday, April 30th, the Ladycats Softball Team had a Pink Out Game to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. They also ended the night with two wins!
Students kindergarten through sixth grade were inspired to tell their stories today. Author, Erica Perl shared her stories and encouraged the students to follow their dreams. The visit was funded by the Helen Gates Whitehead Trust.

Important Updates to today's high school activities.
HS Track at Burlington: Field Events start at 3:00. Running Events at 3:30.
HS Baseball/Softball @ Home: First Game will start at 2:00.
These events are being moved up due to incoming weather, and to give our athletes the opportunity to compete, and also keep them safe! Go Cats!
4th, 5th & 6th Graders went on their Pat Herring trip to Greenbush last week. They earned this trip by reading at least six Pat Herring books & passing the AR tests on each book. Thanks to David Herring!
Last Wednesday, the 8th grade made a trip to Linn County, KS to a few historic sites. First we visited the Marais Des Cygnes Massacre site, then Mine Creek Battle site and museum, and lastly Mound City. Thank you to Mr. Barnes for accompanying and sharing his knowledge of the area. His cousin, Jim, also was able to show and tell us about a family relic- a sword from the Mine Creek Battle. It was a fun, learning experience for all!!
The start time for the league JH track meet at Pleasanton tomorrow has CHANGED. Because of a conflict with the timing company due to the recent weather, we will start the meet at 2 PM. Field events start at 2 and 3200M run will start the running events at approx. 3:45. The bus will be leaving at 11:30. Let’s go get some league titles!!
High School Activities for the week. Go Cats!
The National Weather Service has given the all clear and we will be sending the buses out and dismissing the Junior/Senior High students at this time.
The 5th grade D.A.R.E. scheduled for 5pm tonight has been postponed. We will send out the new date next week.
Update: All Junior and Senior High Students are in shelter with the bus students at the high school. Again, we will dismiss them when we get the all clear.
Due to a tornado warning for Yates Center, all students on buses have taken shelter at the high school. We will send them on their way when we get the all clear.
Due to the potential incoming weather; Junior High and High School will not have track practice tonight.
Youth track practice is also canceled.
3rd graders visited the Woodson County Museum today.
Update on youth track meet in Eureka tomorrow: It will be moved ahead an hour to try to be done before weather sets in. Start time is 9 AM. Any further updates will be communicated as soon as it is available.

JH Track meet at Eureka has been officially CANCELLED!!
The JH track meet at Eureka has been delayed until 2:45 for field events and 3:30 to start running events.
Kamdyn Trahan, senior, has signed to play volleyball at Fort Scott Community College. Kamdyn was a three year starter at YCHS and accumulated 467 kills, 77 aces, 57 blocks, 304 digs, and 30 assists. We wish her the best as she goes on to continue her education and volleyball career as a FSCC Greyhound! Congrats, Kamdyn!
